December 22, 2017 Update

The 100th General Assembly remains adjourned until January of 2018.  The Illinois House will reconvene January 23rd.  The Illinois Senate will reconvene on January 30th.  Below is a list of key deadlines for the upcoming Spring Session. Note the bill drafting deadline for both chambers is February 2nd.  The deadline to file substantive legislation in both chambers is February 16th.
Governor Rauner signed SB0867 (T. Cullerton/Sente) which reduces startup, annual filing and other fees for limited liability companies (LLCs).  Under the new law, the filing fee for new LLCs drops to $150 from $500 and annual report fees drop to $75 from $250. The law takes effect immediately.
Democratic State Representative Dan Bieser resigned his legislative seat effective December 17th.  A replacement has not been named at this time.
This week, Illinois opted into to the national First Responder Network, a communications network that is being built, operated and maintained at no cost to participating states through a public-private partnership between FirstNet and AT&T. FirstNet, short for First Responder Network Authority, is an independent authority established within the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.  More information can be found here.
Eleven pieces of legislation passed during the 2017 Fall Veto Session are still awaiting action from the Governor.  The Governor has 60 days from receipt of the legislation to act upon the bill.
